Women's Basketball defeats Cedarville behind 22 from Blevins

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky Norse Women's Basketball looked to build off of an impressive 80-78 road win over Marshall, as they took on the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Friday night in Truist Arena. Cedarville hung around for a long time in the game, leading at the end of the first quarter and only losing by three at halftime. A strong second half from the Norse, including an 8-12 third quarter, helped NKU pull away for back-to-back victories.

FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky - 81, Cedarville - 67

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior guard Macey Blevins had her best offensive night of the year, posting a season-high 22 points on 8-12 shooting. Blevins hit a pair of threes, pulled down three boards, and added two steals and two assists. 
- Guard Anna Hamilton had a great night on both ends of the floor, putting up 11 points on 5-8 shooting, and added three boards, two steals, and two assists. 
- In limited action, Mya Meredith posted double figures for the first time as a Norse, putting up 10 points while adding a pair of steals and a block on defense. 
- Halle Idowu scored 12 points and knocked down six of her seven free throw attempts, also adding four rebounds and two assists. 
- Jaci Jones was making plays for everybody, as she recorded seven assists on the night and scored seven points, both season-highs. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cedarville had an impressive shooting night, including 25-42 from the field and 7-13 from beyond the arc. Ultimately, the Norse were able to pull ahead by dominating the turnover battle, 12-22. As a result, NKU scored 25 points off turnovers and 17 on the fast break. 
- Both teams saw balanced scoring, as ten total players finished with eight or more points on the night. Blevins led all scorers with her 22. 
- Northern Kentucky went 8-20 from beyond the arc, with seven different players recording a made attempt. 

NEXT UP
The Norse face a quick turnaround, as next up for them is Sunday afternoon matchup at Toledo, which will tip off at 2 PM.
