Women’s Basketball takes another close loss in in-state battle

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky Norse Women's Basketball looked to get back on track after three close road losses, as they took on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at home on Saturday afternoon. The Norse led for the majority of the game, but the lead slipped away late as shots wouldn't fall, and Eastern Kentucky came out with a road victory.

THE FACTS
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 75, Eastern Kentucky – 84
LOCATION: Truist Arena - Highland Heights, Ky.
RECORDS: NKU: 2-6, EKU 6-3

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Halle Idowu once again led the Norse in scoring, pouring in 21 points on 8-16 shooting. She stuffed the stat sheet with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
- Macey Blevins scored 14 points in 26 minutes and went 3-5 from deep. The senior added two rebounds and two assists but fouled out with 6:34 remaining in the game.
- In her second start, Kamora Morgan scored in double figures, finishing with 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
- Mya Meredith added a scoring punch off the bench with 11 points and five rebounds.
- Freshman Anna Hamilton made key plays throughout the night, as she led the Norse in assists with four, while also adding four rebounds and two steals.

NORSE NOTES
- The Norse had another great first half, as they led at the break for the fifth time this season. They jumped out to a thirteen-point lead near the end of the first, but that was their largest of the afternoon. Eastern Kentucky started to cut into the Norse lead in the second quarter, getting it to four by the halftime break.
- NKU had a bounce-back third quarter, shooting 57.1% from the floor in the period, and extended their lead to ten at one point. A plethora of fouls saw the Norse shoot eleven free throws in the period, but they only converted six of their eleven attempts. The two teams combined for 55 fouls in the game, and seven players finished with four or more fouls in the game.
- The fourth quarter saw the Colonels pull away midway through, and without Macey Blevins, the Norse offense just couldn't get anything going. NKU was limited to 4-16 shooting in the quarter, and after trading baskets early, the Colonels sealed it with a six-point swing in the final 40 seconds.
