Women's Soccer falls in Championship, Anderson, Doersching, Vogt named to All-Tournament Team

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Two of the country's hottest teams faced off in the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship on Saturday, as Northern Kentucky and Milwaukee entered the season finale tied for the nation's longest winning streak at seven games apiece. The Panthers emerged as the side to extend their streak, adding to their extensive trophy collection with a 2-1 win over the Norse. 

Following the match, three Norse earned All-Tournament honors, as Kylie Anderson, Emilie Doersching, and Kaya Vogt were named to the 2024 #HLWSOC All-Tournament Team.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Northern Kentucky outshot Milwaukee 17-15 in the match, and also won the shot on goal battle, 10-7. NKU was particularly aggressive in the second half, outshooting the Panthers 12-6 in the period. 
- Milwaukee dominated the corner battle, getting eight in the match while Northern Kentucky received just one. 
- Emilie Doersching peppered the Panther goal with shot attempts, recording a match-high seven shots with five on goal, including a game-tying tap-in in the 59th minute

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Milwaukee was uber-aggressive on the offensive end in the first half, as they held possession in NKU's half for the majority of the period. The Panthers took the lead in the 31st minute and held a 1-0 lead at the half. 
- Emilie Doersching scored the equalizer for the Norse, getting at the right place at the right time as the ball found her on a cross and she was able to put it in to tie the match at one. 
- Milwaukee re-took the lead seven minutes later on a penalty kick and held on for a 2-1 victory.
