Impressive depth, double doubles from Dilling & Wells, Robinson's 25 points lead Men's Basketball to win over Cumberlands

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky men's basketball kicked off its four game home stand in a big way on Wednesday night, as the Norse hosted and subsequently defeated the University of the Cumberlands at Truist Arena. 

Trey Robinson dominated once again, posting 25 points, while both Josh Dilling (17 PTS, 10 AST), and Keeyan Itejere (10 PTS, 11 REB) finished with double-doubles.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN

  • Northern Kentucky spread the wealth on the night, with six players scoring in double figures. Trey Robinson led the way with 25, while Josh Dilling (17), LJ Wells (14), Randall Pettus (11), Keeyan Itejere (10), and Jeramiah Israel (10) finished with 10+. 
  • Josh Dilling's 10 assists marked a season-high and made him the first Norse since Michael Bradley to post 10 assists in a game. 
  • Northern Kentucky dominated on the glass, winning 48-21 on the glass with 18 offensive rebounds. 
  • NKU's 98 points are the most the Norse have scored in a game this year, and the highest total since scoring 99 vs. Wright State in the Horizon League quarterfinals last season. 
  • NKU shot 57% from the field, and 40% from beyond the arc. Both Josh Dilling (3-6 3PT) and Hubertas Pivorius (2-4 3PT) made multiple threes. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Following a physical first half, Northern Kentucky led 47-38 at the break. Trey Robinson had 16 first half points, with NKU shooting a blistering 58.6% from the field in the half. 
  • An early 6-0 run for the Norse pushed the lead out to 15, and NKU held the Cumberlands at arms length during the rest of the game. NKU led by as many as 22 on the way to a 19 point win.
