AKRON, Ohio — Northern Kentucky men's basketball returned to action in search of a second straight win on Tuesday night as the Norse took on Akron on the road. 
Trey Robinson led all scorers with a season-high 30 points and Sam Vinson scored his 1,000th career point, but NKU fell to the Zips.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
	- Trey Robinson led all scorers, posting 30 points on 11-15 shooting including 3-4 from 3PT range. Robinson scored 23 in the first half (including NKU's first 10 points), and grabbed five rebounds on the night. 
- Sam Vinson crossed the 1,000 point mark for his career with his three in the first half, as part of an 11 point night. Vinson had six assists and a pair of rebounds as well. 
- Randall Pettus knocked down three 3PT shots, scoring 11 points on the night. 
- Dan Gherezgher and LJ Wells each posted seven points. 
- NKU made 24 total shots with 12 assists. 
- NKU & Akron shot a combined 56 free throws - 28 per team. 
- Akron won the rebounding battle 39-23. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- NKU trailed by as many as 17 in the first half, but a late 7-0 run cut the deficit to 10 at halftime. 
- The Norse cut the deficit to as low as nine in the second half, but couldn't get any closer in the loss.

	- Northern Kentucky opens league play on Saturday, as the Norse travel to take on IU Indy. Tipoff is set for 2 PM.
