HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky women's basketball hosted Youngstown State on Saturday in its Horizon League home opener at Truist Arena.
The Norse battled throughout and held a lead in the fourth quarter, but NKU dropped a defensive battle to the Penguins.

- NKU had four players with six or more points in the loss, with Jaci Jones' nine leading the way. Jones grabbed four rebounds as well, and finished 2-2 from 3PT land.
- Gabby Razzano finished with six points and six boards.
- Mya Meredith scored eight points and had four steals.
- NKU lost the rebounding battle 38-32.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- NKU trailed 12-9 after the first quarter, but rallied in the second with great defense and a pair of made threes to lead 21-19 at halftime.
- Scoring picked up in the third, as NKU doubled its point total from the first half and led 42-35 headed to the final quarter.
- NKU struggled from the field in the final frame (1-13 FG), and Youngstown State capitalized to take home the win.
