HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was another back-and-forth affair as the Norse got on the board right away in the bottom of the opening frame with a solo shot by McFadden-Ackman to make it a 1-0 game.
- Wright State answered with two runs in the top of the third, but Northern Kentucky responded right back with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning as NKU held on to a 3-2 lead.
- The Raiders tied the game in the top of the fourth and then took a slight 4-3 lead with another run in the top of the fifth.
- A Shaneyfel RBI single up the middle knotted things up at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
- The Norse took the lead again, this time at 5-4, as McFadden-Ackman struck again with a RBI double that plated Moss in the bottom of the sixth.
- That is when Wright State made its move with a seven-run top of the seventh to start to pull away at 11-5.
- There was no quit in NKU as the Norse got another run in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-6.
- The Raiders then added another run of insurance in the top of the ninth.
- NKU went on another spirited comeback attempt with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, courtesy of a three-run bomb by Simpson to cut the WSU edge to 12-9.
