OXFORD, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer program posted another strong 90-minutes of play, but once again found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-1 decision to Mid-American Conference foe Miami (OH) in a non-conference clash at Bobby Kramig Field on Thursday night.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-
Meghan Belrose made her case for the nightly highlight reels as the junior forward blasted an absolute missile off a free kick to tie things at 1-1 in the first half. It was her first goal of the season and the first of the St. Louis, Missouri native's NKU career. Belrose was set up just outside of the box on a free kick attempt and sent a blast into the top corner of the net, in what has to be one of the best first goals you will ever see.
- Northern Kentucky tied its season best in goals scored and set new season highs in shots (13), shots on target (10) and corner kicks (six).
-
Shay Shipley let the offensive attack with two shots on goal.
- Eight different Norse student-athletes also posted a shot on target as
Lilly Yordy,
Lydia Self,
Emilie Doersching,
Caitlin Evans,
Riley Evans,
Ayla Conn,
Erykah Cornett and Belrose all finished with a chance on goal, respectively.
-
Donna Bundy made the start between the pipes and recorded four saves in the hard fought effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern Kentucky started off the game strong with two shots on target through the first three minutes of play.
- Miami (OH) would take advantage of a NKU mistake as the Norse posted a penalty in the box that gave the Redhawks a chance at a penalty kick in the 27th minute. An initial save was made by Bundy, but the rebound bounced right back to the Miami (OH) penalty taker who would tap home the close-range rebound for a 1-0 lead.
- The Norse tied things right back up under 10 minutes later with Belrose's highlight reel strike to tie things at 1-1 in the 37th minute.
- Northern Kentucky continued to push the pace with nine shots in the second half.
- Despite the strong effort, the Redhawks were able to strike again in the 54th and 78th minute to escape with the 3-1 victory.
