BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team refused to go down without a fight on Sunday afternoon, overcoming the heat and a second half deficit in a 1-1 draw with UAB.
After falling behind late in the first half, the Norse were able to tie the match in the 85th minute on a penalty kick goal from
Wade Stinson.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Both goals in the match were scored on penalty kicks, with Wade Stinson netting his first goal of the season in the 85th minute after Ali Taleb was fouled in the box.
- After being out-shot 6-3 in the first half, Northern Kentucky applied pressure throughout the second half before Stinson's equalizer. The Norse out-shot the Dragons 8-6 in the second half.
- Nic Lemen was clutch in goal for the Norse, saving seven of eight UAB shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAB scored the first goal of the match in the 32nd minute, as Tony Kim put the Dragons up 1-0 with a penalty kick goal. The score remained 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
- Northern Kentucky continued to battle deep into the second half before drawing a free kick in the 84th minute. The Norse played the ball into the box, where Ali Taleb was fouled on a shot attempt. After review, Wade Stinson provided the equalizer with a penalty kick goal of his own.
- Nic Lemen came up with one final save in the 88th to keep the match tied.
