Men's Soccer extends unbeaten streak to five matches with draw vs. Oakland

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.  — Northern Kentucky men's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to five matches on Saturday afternoon as the Norse played to a 1-1 draw with defending Horizon League champion Oakland at NKU Soccer Stadium. 

NKU has drawn four of its last five with a win over Western Illinois on September 8.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite allowing a goal, Nic Lemen finished with five saves and stopped three Oakland shots on goal in the second half. Lemen has saved 25 shots this season and is allowing less than one goal per match. 
  • Tyler Murphy provided the equalizer for the Norse in the 59th minute, marking his third goal of the season. Itay Soffer was credited with the assist. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Oakland jumped on top in the 19th minute on an unassisted goal by Abdul Al-Rashed. NKU was held scoreless in the first half but held a 9-6 advantage in shots. 
  • Tyler Murphy's equalizer brought the match level in the 59th minute. 
  • NKU held an advantage in total shots 15-13, with four on goal.
