Women’s Volleyball Takes Down Youngstown State, Moves to 4-0 in League Play

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – After winning their first three matches in league play, including a big win Tuesday night over Wright State, Northern Kentucky University Norse women's volleyball headed to Youngstown for a pair of weekend matchups with the Penguins. The Norse made quick work of Youngstown State in Friday evening's match, taking them down in three close sets.

RECORDS: Northern Kentucky: 8-7 (4-0 HL), YSU: 6-9 (1-3 HL)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– All three sets saw close matchups, as NKU took each one by no less than five points. After winning set one 25-23, they took the second and third sets 25-20. 
– The Norse out-hit the Penguins .259-.188, and finished with five more kills (42-37). Northern Kentucky was particularly efficient in set three, hitting .444 with 17 kills and just one error. 
– Allison Risley finished as the Norse points leader with 13.5 total, finishing with 12 kills, one ace, one block, and eight digs. 
– Kendall Hopewell had eight kills on a .467 hitting percentage, also recording four total blocks. 
– Ivey Stocks posted an attacking line of 9-2-17, also recording one block. 
– Abby Pickard finished with a match-high 34 assists and came one dig shy of a double-double with nine. 
– Lucy Cluxton led NKU in digs with 18, also recording five assists and an ace. 
– Sydney Bray recorded five kills, an ace, three blocks, and 12 digs. 
– Ava Hoying finished with seven kills, two aces, and one block.

NKU stays in Youngstown for one more matchup with the Penguins, set for Saturday at 1 PM.
