NILES, Ohio — Northern Kentucky baseball was unable to secure a sweep on Sunday, as NKU couldn't overcome an early deficit in a loss at Youngstown State.
NKU batters hit three home runs in the loss.

- NKU pitchers combined for just two strikeouts while walking 10 Penguins' batters.

- Gabe Miranda led the Norse, finishing 2-5 with a home run, a double, and four RBI.
- Logen Devenport finished 2-3 with a home run, a double and a pair of RBI.
- Tyler Shaneyfelt stole three bases, drew three walks, had a hit and scored twice in the loss.
- Jake Paulick finished 1-4 with a solo home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Logen Devenport homered in the first, but YSU scored five runs in the home half to take an early lead.
- Devenport doubled home a run in the third, and Gabe Miranda launched a three-run homer to tie the game at five.
- YSU scored eight unanswered runs, but NKU attempted to battle back. NKU scored three runs in the sixth, but the Penguins scored five combined in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to win.
