HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky baseball battled through a cold and windy day at Friendship Field to pick up a non-conference victory over Southern Indiana on Tuesday, splitting the season series with the Screaming Eagles.
The Norse got a season-best performance from Gerald Hanson out of the bullpen, while the lineup provided a big second inning in the win.

- Jake Johnson got the start and the win as the opener for the Norse. Johnson gave up a pair of runs (one earned) in a pair of innings.
- Gerald Hanson threw four scoreless innings, retiring 13 of the 14 batters he faced with four strikeouts.
- Evan Fry picked up the save with two outs in the ninth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- NKU plated a run on an RBI single by Gabe Miranda in the first, tying the game at one.
- NKU plated four runs in the second, capped by a two-run single from Miranda.
- Brennan Rowe layed down a bunt single, and a USI error plated Marcus Harrison in the four.
- Nolan Sparks singled to shortstop in the fifth, giving NKU a 7-3 lead.
- USI hit a three-run homer in the ninth, but NKU held on for the win.
