LEXINGTON, Ky. — Northern Kentucky baseball took on in-state rival Kentucky on Tuesday, as the Norse traveled south to Lexington's Kentucky Proud Park for a matchup with the Wildcats. 

NKU kept it close, but could not come through with runners in scoring position in the loss.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN - PITCHING

• Noah Sackenheim took the ball for NKU, throwing two innings and striking out three while allowing just one run on a solo homer. He was credited with the loss. 
• Jake Johnson, Logan Wilson, and Aaron Massie each threw scoreless innings in the loss. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN - BATTING

• Tyler Shaneyfelt provided the lone two-hit performance, finishing 2-5. 
• Logen Devenport had an RBI single in the loss. 
• Brennan Rowe drew a pair of walks and had a hit. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Trailing 3-0 in the eighth, Logen Devenport singled home Brennan Rowe to cut the deficit to two. UK added three insurance runs in the eighth to seal the win. 

UP NEXT

• The Norse are set to take on Youngstown State in a three-game set to close the season.
