HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky baseball scored early and often on Friday, taking an early lead and shutting down YSU late on the way to a series clinching victory over the Penguins at Friendship Field.
NKU took advantage of seven YSU errors in the win, plating 10 runs in the first four innings.

- Aaron Boster got the start for NKU, striking out five over 4.1 innings.
- Shawn Parnell got the win after a dominant 2.2 innings. Parnell struck out five and allowed just one baserunner.
- Aaron Massie closed out the win with two perfect innings.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN - BATTING
- NKU did not have an extra-base hit in the game, notching 12 runs on 13 singles and seven walks. The Norse had only six RBIs as a team, taking advantage of seven YSU errors.
- Tyler Shaneyfelt finished 1-3 with a pair of stolen bases and three walks.
- Marcus Harrison finished 2-4.
- Gabe Miranda went 2-4 with an RBI.
- Sam Bond had an RBI.
- Nolan Sparks drove in two runs.
- Jake Altman led NKU with three hits.
- Jake Paulick finished 205 with an RBI single that turned into a little league homer after a YSU error.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- NKU plated the first six runs of the game, leading 6-0 after three innings.
- After YSU posted a pair in the top of the fourth, NKU responded with four runs of its own to take a 10-2 lead.
- The Norse plated a run in the sixth and seventh to secure the win.
