14 Northern Kentucky University Athletics programs post perfect APR scores in 2023-24 report

INDIANAPOLIS – Student-athletes at Northern Kentucky University continued their stellar success in the classroom, as evident by the latest Academic Progress Rates released by the NCAA this week.

Nine NKU teams earned perfect multiyear scores as men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track, women's cross country, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's track, and women's volleyball all recorded multi-year rates of 1,000, the highest total a team can receive in the report.

Northern Kentucky ranked first in the Horizon League with its nine perfect multiyear scores.

"Our stellar APR scores are a reflection of our coaches recruiting excellent student-athletes that continue to succeed in the classroom," said Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services and Senior Woman Administrator Sarah Pruess. "We also have an outstanding academic staff consisting of Britney Woodhull-Smith, Rachael Bragg and Dominic Toledo that work with our student-athletes daily to support them outside of their sport."

The Norse also saw 14 teams earn a perfect score of 1,000 during the 2023-24 academic year. Baseball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's soccer, men's tennis, men's track, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, softball, women's soccer, women's track, and women's volleyball all earned the perfect score honor.

Each academic year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR. The score measures eligibility and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.

The APR is an annual assessment of each team's academic success and retention history. The overall APR grade is based on the most recent four years set of data, running from 2018-19 through the 2021-22 campaign.
