NKU Student-Athletes combine for 28th straight semester with combined GPA above 3.0

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky University Athletics put together another stellar semester in the classroom in the Spring 2025 term, as Norse student-athletes combined for a 3.383 GPA to close the 2024-25 academic year. 

The feat marks the 28th straight semester that Northern Kentucky student-athletes have posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and the 22nd straight semester with a combined GPA above 3.2. Going even further, Norse student-athletes have now achieved a combined GPA of 3.3 or higher in 16 consecutive semesters.

"I'm extremely proud of our student-athletes for their dedication to excellence both in the classroom and in competition," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Christina Roybal. "Their success reflects the strong support of our coaches, academic staff, and our faculty, whose mentorship and commitment help make their achievements possible."

In total, 17 of NKU's sport offerings finished with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with softball's 3.742 GPA leading the way.

Softball, women's tennis, women's soccer, women's cross country, women's basketball, and women's volleyball each finished with a GPA above 3.5. 10 of NKU's women's programs finished with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with a 3.484 GPA overall. 

Men's tennis led all men's programs with a 3.517 GPA, with men's soccer and baseball each posting a GPA above a 3.3. Seven NKU men's teams finished with a GPA above 3.0, with a 3.18 GPA overall. 

At the conclusion of the Spring 2025 semester, 39 student-athletes finished with a 4.0 (12.62%), with 159 above a 3.5 (51.46%), and 240 above a 3.0 (77.67%). 

251 (81.2%) of NKU's student-athletes have a GPA above 3.0.
