Women’s Soccer falls on road to Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer finished up a three-game road trip on Sunday with a clash against Milwaukee. The Panthers and Norse have met in each of the past two Horizon League Championship matches, but Milwaukee has historically had the upper hand over NKU, winning every contest between the two sides since 2017. After falling behind two goals to none in the first half, the Norse quickly battled back in the second half to get a pair of goals back, but the Panthers netted a 70th-minute winner to keep their winning streak alive.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– After Milwaukee scored a pair of first-half goals, the Norse got one back early on in the second half, as Erkyah Cornett headed in a goal in the 47th minute. Off a throw-in from Sophia Kapszukiewicz, the ball took a high bounce off the head of a Panther defender before a perfectly-timed leap from Cornett saw the Norse cut the deficit to two. It marked the second goal in as many matches for Cornett, who scored the winner in Thursday's match at Green Bay. 
– Meghan Belrose tied things up in the 55th minute, again off a throw from Kapszukiewicz. The ball took a few bounces inside the box before landing at the feet of the Norse senior, who cut inside and fired off a rocket off the near post for her first goal of the 2025 season. 
– Milwaukee then netted a 70th-minute winner, despite a handful of solid scoring chances down the stretch. 
– Milwaukee won the shot battle, 22-14, though the two sides finished even in shots on goal with seven apiece. 
– NKU keeper Megan Gessner made four saves in the match.
