Volleyball Takes Down Western Michigan to Open Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Volleyball kicked off its second weekend of the 2025 season on Thursday, taking on Western Michigan as they started play in the Indiana Invitational. After a rough weekend hitting in Evansville a week prior, the Norse were proficient in the attack as they took down the Broncos in four sets.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • NKU hit .164 in the match, a season high. After falling in set one, 25-19, NKU battled back with a 25-22 set two victory in which they never trailed. In set three, the two sides went back and forth early until Western Michigan stormed ahead on an 8-0 run to take a 17-11 lead. After a timeout from Coach Hart, the Norse flipped a switch and finished the set on a 14-4 run. Kendall Hopewell had an outstanding final four points in the set, tallying two kills and two blocks to take the set. In set four, NKU took a massive 14-4 lead early and never looked back. The Norse cruised to a 25-16 victory in set four. 
  • Sydney Bray put up a double-double, racking up 15 kills and 14 digs, hitting .195 on the afternoon. 
  • Ivey Stocks put up 11 kills and six total blocks with a .417 hitting percentage.
  • Kendall Hopewell tallied ten kills, hitting .500 on the day as she posted a final line of 10-1-18.
  • Abby Pickard racked up 39 assists and 11 digs. 
  • Lucy Cluxton led the Norse in digs, posting 21 on the day. 
  • Allison Risley put up eight kills and 11 digs, also adding four aces. 

UP NEXT
Northern Kentucky wraps up play in the Indiana Invitational on Friday, taking on the Hoosiers at 10 AM and Southeast Missouri State at 4 PM.
