NEW ORLEANS — Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball opened its second weekend of the 2026 season on Friday, taking on ULM in the opening game of the Maestri Classic hosted by New Orleans. The Norse fell behind 3-0 in the fourth but immediately tied it up in the bottom half of the frame. A
Landon Springmeyer homer in the fifth was the difference, as Norse pitching did a great job to close it out.

– Both teams went scoreless through a pair of innings, and the Warhawks opened it up in the third with a three-run homer. NKU responded right away, scoring on a pair of errors and a double from
Josh Williams to even the game at three. ULM took the lead again on a sacrifice fly in the fifth, but that was their last run of the game, as
Landon Springmeyer hit a two-run bomb to left to give the Norse a one-run advantage. The Norse added an insurance run as
Ethan Thomas and
Alex Brazer both doubled in the seventh, and NKU held on late for the win.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN

Evan Fry got the start on the bump for the Norse, pitching four innings, striking out seven, allowing five hits, and giving up three runs.

Cody Little relieved him in the fifth, pitching just one inning but earning the win. He allowed one run, one hit, and one walk.

Logan Wilson pitched the next 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out two.

Jared Teke came in with two outs in the ninth and got the save, striking out the only batter he saw.

Ethan Thomas was the only Norse with multiple hits, going 2-3 with a walk, a double, and two runs.
