HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball opened up its first home series of the 2026 season on Friday, taking on Eastern Illinois for the first of a three-game set. While both teams scored a run in the opening frame, it took nine more innings of ball for either team to break the deadlock. It was
Pierce Bauerle who played the hero, taking his former team deep in the tenth as the Norse took the series opener.

Mark Nowak to draw even. From there, it was all in the hands of the pitchers, as Norse arms threw nine straight innings of scoreless ball to close the game, while the Panthers held NKU to just the lone run until the tenth, where
Pierce Bauerle sent one deep to center to close things out in walkoff fashion.

Logan Wilson started on the mound for the Norse, throwing 4.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out four with a pair of walks and a pair of hits.
Carson French relieved him, allowing a hit and a walk in two and a third.
Shawn Parnell got a groundout and a walk before being pulled, and then
Gabe Stout threw a pair of scoreless frames while allowing two baserunners.
Jared Teke pitched the final two-thirds of the tenth, getting the Norse out of trouble as he stranded a runner in scoring position.
