HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball hosted day one of the NKU Invitational on Friday, welcoming Detroit Mercy, Northern Iowa, and Northwestern to Grein Field. The Norse were outmatched by opponents Northwestern and Northern Iowa on day one, being run-ruled in both contests.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- NKU allowed 16 Wildcat runs on 13 hits, six walks, and three HBPs. The Wildcats held just a one-nothing lead through two innings before pouring it on in the third and fourth and jumping out to a 12-0 lead. NKU allowed eight extra-base hits, including five homers, in the contest.
- At the plate, NKU recorded just three hits in 18 at-bats. NKU's lone run came in the fourth inning as

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Norse jumped out to a 1-0 lead before allowing 14 consecutive Panther runs to end the game.
- NKU allowed nine hits and eight walks in 26 Panther at-bats, while committing five errors on the day. Northern Iowa had just one extra-base hit in the game, a double to lead off the second.
- Northern Kentucky's offense recorded three hits in 19 at-bats. Peyton-Mueller Stenz's RBI double in the first was NKU's only extra-base hit of the day.
