Baseball earns first series win with game two win over Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball continued its series with Oakland on Saturday, looking to take the series against the Golden Grizzlies after a Friday victory. The Norse offense scored ten runs across the fifth and sixth innings, enough to push past Oakland as NKU took the series.

GAME SUMMARY
– Both squads scored a run in the first inning, and were tied 3-3 after four innings. In the fifth, the Norse scored five runs on four hits, and then scored five runs on six hits in the sixth to take a ten-run lead. Oakland got a few back in the sixth and seventh, but Tannis Lange shut down the Golden Grizzlies over the final two frames as the Norse earned the win. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
– EJ Miramontes got the start on the mound for the Norse, as he threw 5.1 innings while allowing five runs, six hits, and a walk while striking out six. He earned his second win of the season, both in Horizon League play, moving to 2-2 on the season. 
– Miramontes was relieved by Jared Teke in the sixth, allowing two runs in an inning of work. Carson French finished off the seventh and allowed a run while getting two outs. Tannis Lange threw the two final innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four in a scoreless pair of innings. 
– NKU's offense delivered 17 hits in 44 at-bats while drawing five walks and two HBPs. NKU had five extra-base hits, all doubles. Six Norse recorded multiple hits, with three batters finishing with three hits.
– Mark Nowak finished 2-5 with two doubles, four RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. 
– Josh Williams went 3-6 with three singles, scoring two runs. 
– Jake Paulick batted 3-6 with a run and an RBI. 
– Jackson Wang finished 3-6 at the plate with a run scored and a double. 
– Pierce Bauerle finished 2-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
