HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball took on Robert Morris for a Saturday doubleheader, looking to close out the series strong after a run-rule Friday victory for NKU. Northern Kentucky took a big loss in game one but bounced back for a game three, series-winning victory to wrap it up.
Before the game, the Norse also recognized five seniors:

THE BASICS – GAME ONE

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– RMU took an early lead with a solo home run in the second, before adding runs in the third and fourth to take a 3-0 lead. After the Norse got a pair back in the fifth, the Colonials added some security with four runs in the sixth, followed by a mammoth 11-run seventh that put the game way out of reach.
– NKU starting pitcher
Makaree Chapman pitched 6.1 innings, allowing seven runs while striking out a pair.
Kyndall Ford allowed eight runs in the seventh, throwing 0.2 innings.
– The Norse offense tallied seven hits in 24 at-bats, with no player recording multiple hits.
Brielle DiMemmo,
Brooke Keltner, and
Emma Ginn all tallied doubles while
Morgan Heinecke hit her first career home run in the seventh.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– Game two saw NKU take a large lead early, jumping out to an 8-0 lead after three, and defended it down the stretch to win 9-4.

Alicia Flores got the start in game two, throwing 4.2 innings of three-run ball, striking out four batters while allowing just four batters to reach base. She moved to 7-5 on the season with the victory.
Abigail Byrd relieved Flores in the fifth and threw 2.1 innings while allowing just one run. Neither pitcher allowed a walk in the game.
– NKU totaled eleven hits in 28 at-bats, drawing three walks while recording five extra-base hits.

Brielle DiMemmo was responsible for a pair of those extra-base hits, who tripled twice as she batted 3-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Lexy Morris finished 2-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored.

Peyton Mueller-Stenz and
Brooke Keltner each recorded a double.
