Baseball takes down Miami-Hamilton in midweek clash

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball took on Miami-Hamilton on Wednesday afternoon after a road series victory over Youngstown State from the weekend prior. The Harriers were no trouble for Northern Kentucky as the Norse won 12-0 in a run-rule victory.

GAME SUMMARY
– The Norse took a first-inning lead and scored in five of six innings at the plate, including four runs in the second and three in the fifth. NKU pitchers combined to shut out the Harriers, as five Norse arms combined for three hits, two walks, and ten strikeouts in the victory. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
– Gerald Hanson got the start and threw three scoreless innings, striking out a game-high six batters while allowing just two hits. Will Franklin, Jackson Fraser, and Maret Drye all allowed just one baserunner in their innings, while Kyle Cortner threw a perfect fifth, earning the win and moving to 2-0 on the year. 
– NKU tallied 12 hits in 28 at-bats, drawing ten walks along the way. 
– Marcus Harrison racked up a game-high three hits in five at-bats, batting in four while scoring once. 
– Jake Paulick batted 1-1 with a three-run homer, a sac fly, a walk, and a pair of runs scored. 
– Pierce Bauerle hit 2-2 with two runs scored, a hit by pitch, and a stolen base. 
– Alex Brazer batted 2-3 with a pair of runs scored.

UP NEXT
NKU takes on Wright State this weekend, with the series opener set for Friday at 3 PM in Highland Heights.
