Northern Kentucky Student-Athletes Record 30th-Straight Semester with Combined GPA above 3.0

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — The 2025-26 academic year marked another banner year for Northern Kentucky University Athletics in the classroom, as Norse student-athletes combined for a 3.428 term GPA in the spring of 2026. 

The spring of 2026 now marks the 15th-straight year and 30th-consecutive semester in which Northern Kentucky student-athletes recorded a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher, and the 24th in which that number has crossed 3.2 or higher. Northern Kentucky student-athletes have now posted a 3.3 combined GPA in 17-straight semesters, and back-to-back semesters with a GPA of 3.4 or better. 

"I'm proud of our student-athletes' ability to set a high standard and continue to excel in the classroom," said Northern Kentucky Interim Director of Athletics John Mason. "We deeply appreciate our tremendous support staff and faculty whose guidance plays a vital role in making this academic success possible."

All 20 of NKU's athletic programs posted a GPA of at least 3.1 in the spring 2026 semester, with women's tennis leading the way with a 3.830 GPA. 

Eight Northern Kentucky programs (Women's Tennis, Softball, Men's Soccer, Women's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Women's Track & Field, Women's Basketball) recorded a term GPA of 3.5 or higher. 14 programs posted a 3.3 GPA or better, while 17 posted a grade point average of 3.2 or higher. 

Northern Kentucky's women's programs recorded an overall term GPA of 3.519, while the Norse men's programs posted a term GPA of 3.326. 59 Northern Kentucky student-athletes (17.15%) recorded a perfect 4.0 in the term, up from 14.33% in the fall. Nearly 60% of NKU student-athletes posted a 3.5 GPA in the spring, as 206 reached that benchmark, and 81.98% of Norse student-athletes recorded a 3.0 GPA or better.
