David Harris

Harris, a native of Cincinnati who played high school basketball for Wyoming, joined the Norse staff in 2019 as an assistant coach following a one-year stint in the same capacity at the Naval Academy.

Harris has been instrumental as NKU continues its dominance within the Horizon League. In his first six years with the program, Northern Kentucky has won the Horizon League title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in both 2019-20 and 2022-23. The Norse have also made it to at least the semifinals of the Horizon League Championships in five of six seasons, to go with making the championship game three times (2022-23, 2021-22 and 2019-20).

His main role with the program is running the NKU defense and working with the guards.

Prior to his time with the Naval Academy, Harris spent three years on the staff at Texas where he served as special assistant, video coordinator. Originally hired in 2013 by Shaka Smart at VCU as a graduate assistant, Harris moved into the video coordinator role for the Rams in 2014.

Harris competed on the hardwood as a student-athlete for Ashland University for three years, as he earned a degree in finance. Prior to transferring to Ashland, Harris spent two years as a student manager under Billy Donovan at the University of Florida. He also earned a master’s degree in sports leadership from VCU.
