Jay Slone joined the Northern Kentucky men's basketball staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2019-20 season. Slone was a two-time team captain at Ashland University (DII). During Slone's playing career the Eagles amassed 106 wins and reached as high as No. 6 in the NABC rankings in 2018-19 and No. 12 during the 2015-16 campaign.
Slone also spent four summers coaching with The National Basketball Academy (AAU) and, his 2018 team was ranked as high as No. 17Â in the state by Prep Hoops Ohio. Coaching runs in the Slone family, as his father Rob was his high school basketball coach in his hometown of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
