Nored comes to Northern Kentucky after serving as a player development assistant with the Boston Celtics under head coach Brad Stevens, who coached Nored as an undergraduate at Butler University.
Â
Stevens added Nored to the Celtics staff in July 2013, where the former guard spent nearly two years working with the NBA Player Development department to be a resource for player’s off-court endeavors and needs. Nored was also a part of the coaching staff, where he was responsible for individual workouts and opponent scouting.
Â
A championship pedigree, which was forged during back-to-back appearances in the men’s basketball NCAA Division I national championship game, follows Nored to Highland Heights, Kentucky. Nored and Co., lost to Duke in the 2010 title game and then fell to UConn in the 2011 championship.
Â
Along the way to becoming Butler’s career-leader for games played (143) and postseason games played (16), Nored racked up the accolades. During his senior campaign in 2011-12, the Bulldogs’ co-captain was named CollegeInsider.com 2012 Mid-Major Defensive All-America Team, Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year (for the second time), second team All-Horizon League, Capital One Academic All America and Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award first team All-American. Nored graduated from Butler tied for the program record in steals (207) and second on the all-time assist chart with 497.
Â
Nored began his coaching career during the 2012-13 season as the head coach at Brownsburg (Indiana) HS. He then spent four months on former-Butler assistant coach Matthew Graves’ staff at South Alabama prior to heading to Boston.
Â
Nored graduated from Butler in 2012 with a degree in Early/Middle Chidlhood Education.
