Simon McCormack 2022-23 Head

Simon McCormack

McCormack made his way to Northern Kentucky after serving as the Director of Program Development at Texas. He was named an assistant coach for the Norse program prior to the 2019-20 campaign.

In his first six years with NKU, Northern Kentucky has won the Horizon League title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in both 2019-20 and 2022-23. The Norse have also made it to at least the semifinals of the Horizon League Championships in five of six seasons, to go with making the championship game three times (2022-23, 2021-22 and 2019-20).

McCormack's main role with the Norse is running the NKU offense and working with the bigs.

In total, McCormack spent three years in Austin before Highland Heights, filling the role of graduate assistant for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns. Prior to returning to the Longhorns in 2018-19 as the Director of Program Development, he spent the 2017-18 season as the video coordinator at Quinnipiac University.

A former NCAA Division I student-athlete at American University, McCormack earned his business administration degree in marketing in 2012. McCormack also spent the 2011 season as an intern with the NBA G League’s Maine Red Claws.

Immediately following graduation, McCormack spent three years as a sales analyst at GE Capital Real Estate.

HORN ON MCCORMACK
“I worked with Simon for three years at Texas and knew early on what a tremendous coach he could be if given the opportunity. He was a very good player in a winning program at American University and knows what it takes for our players to be successful. He is bright, has tremendous work ethic and connects well with young people. I have no doubt he will do an outstanding job for Norse basketball.”
