2017 All-Horizon League First Team

2017: Started in all 58 games for the Norse during the season…Second on the team in batting average at .331…Had 80 hits, 53 runs, 48 RBI, 20 doubles and 14 home runs on the year…Finished the season with a .587 slugging percentage and a .404 on base percentage…Had a .986 fielding percentage with 134 putouts on the season…Went 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI, four runs scored and two home runs against Youngstown State on March 31…Named to the 2017 Horizon League First Team.

PRIOR TO NKU: Graduate transfer from Eastern Kentucky University ... Sat out the 2016 season ... Led the Colonials in batting average as a junior in 2015, batting .378 on 59-for-156 hitting, which ranked sixth in the OVC and 22nd in the NCAA ... led in on-base percentage at .456 ... had a .628 slugging percentage - the 33rd best in the NCAA ... scored 35 runs, recorded 12 doubles, three triples and seven home runs ... raked in 30 RBI including eight multi-RBI games ... started 40 games, primarily in right field ... comes to NKU with a .317 career batting average on 114 hits across three seasons ... has a .402 career on-base percentage and just nine errors on 151 total chances for a .944 career fielding percentage.

HIGH SCHOOL: Batted .452 his senior season with 21 doubles, one home run and 35 RBIs at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio … all-league, all-district, all-metro and all-state performer.

PERSONAL: Full name is Thomas Joseph Alas … his brother, Brendan, is a freshman on the NKU baseball team ... son of Tom and Lori Alas … his father, Tom, played collegiate basketball for Manhattan College … his uncle played collegiate baseball at Villanova.
