As a former student-athlete at Northern Kentucky University, Shearer graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Business.
He began his NKU golf career by being awarded the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the year in 2004. Shearer also helped lead the team to two consecutive NCAA regional championships in 2004 and 2005, advancing the Norse to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
As a sophomore, junior, and senior, Shearer was named the GLVC Player of the Year after winning the conference championship three consecutive years, and he helped lead the Norse to two conference titles.
In 2006 and 2007, Shearer was named to the Ping/Golf Coaches Association of America All-America teams, as well as being awarded the Cleveland/GCAA All-America Scholar Award.
After being named the GLVC Scholar Athlete of the Year for men’s golf in 2006-07, Shearer was later awarded the Vincent Schulte Athlete of Distinction Award from the NKU Athletic Council.
Shearer finished his career as NKU’s all-time leader in career wins with seven, and he also holds the record for the lowest single-season scoring average of 72.46.
