Josh Carrier joined the NKU women's basketball staff as an assistant coach on July 18, 2016. Carrier is responsible for recruiting, scouting, coaching the wing players and will coordinate game scheduling for the Norse.
 
Carrier comes to NKU after working in the private sector for the last ten years, spending the last two years serving in a management role coaching and developing pharmaceutical sales representatives.
  
Carrier played for the University of Kentucky from 2002-05 where he received his bachelor's degree in business and was a three-time Academic All-SEC award recipient and served as team captain in 2005. The 2001 Mr. Kentucky Basketball from Bowling Green High School won two SEC Tournament championships and played in four NCAA tournaments, including two Elite 8 appearances as a Wildcat.
 
He spent one year as Graduate Assistant Coach under national championship coach Tubby Smith at UK. He was in charge of opponent scouting, video breakdown, assisted in practice planning, game preparation, on-campus recruiting and individual workouts to help the Wildcats to a Sweet 16 appearance.
 
Carrier also served as head coach for the KY Premier AAU Program for the last five years, and has run individual workouts for players ranging from middle school to NBA players.
 
A native of Oakland, Kentucky, Carrier also holds a Master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Kentucky, as well as an MBA from Bellarmine University. Carrier has a family pedigree in teaching and coaching. His father, Darel, was an All-American basketball player at Western Kentucky University and is a member of the American Basketball Association's All-Time Team; his mother, Donna, is a retired school teacher.
 
Carrier and his wife Brittany have two sons – Eli and Isaiah.
