Prior to Missouri Western, Plett was the head coach at Lewis for five years and led the Flyers to the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in 2007.

His 2007 team also earned the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional and posted a 28-4 record. Plett was named the 2007 GLVC Coach of the Year as well as the NCAA Division II Region 4 Coach of the Year.

“Lynn is absolutely a great coach and an even better person,” NKU head coach Dawn Plitzuweit said. “We feel extremely fortunate to have him joining our staff with his vast experiences of being a collegiate head coach in the women’s game for the past 18 seasons. He is highly respected by his peers and will assist us in all aspects of our program. He will not only help us win basketball games but he will also assist our players in becoming better individuals in all aspects of their lives."

At Lewis, Plett inherited a program that finished 7-19 in its previous season. In just three seasons, he led the Flyers to a 19-11 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004-05. His first team to make the NCAA Tournament also excelled in the classroom as they finished the season ranked No. 13 on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll with a team grade-point average of 3.434.

In 2005-06, Plett’s squad returned to the NCAA Tournament and moved up to No. 8 in the WBCA Academic Top 25 poll with a team GPA of 3.515. During his tenure at Lewis, he coached two NCAA Division II All-Americans, two NCAA Division II first-team All-Region selections, two GLVC Players of the Year and one GLVC Newcomer of the Year. He was a member of the NCAA Division II National Coaches Poll Committee and was the conference representative on the Advisory Committee to Women’s Basketball Officials Consortium.

Plett earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and another in humanities and biblical studies from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., where he competed in basketball and soccer. He and his wife Brenda have a son, Matt, and a daughter, Stacy.
