Russ Rose enters his first season as an assistant coach for NKU. Rose spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach in Grand Rapids, Mich., at Davenport, which finished the year 34-2 overall. The Panthers advanced to the Fab Four in the NAIA Division II National Tournament and ended the season ranked second nationally.
Rose assisted in recruiting and skill and strength development at Davenport. Rose's responsibilities with the Panthers included preparing team workout programs and individual instructions for both guards and post players. He was also involved in community building and participated in camps/clinics, fundraising and the hosting of high school tournaments.
"We are elated to be working with Russ on a daily basis as he is a rising star in the coaching profession," NKU head coach Dawn Plitzuweit said. "He will work with our players on their individual development, become an integral component in our recruiting efforts and assist us a great deal in film breakdown, as well as in our camps and clinics. Russ is a coach of great character and integrity and has been a part of championship programs. We are very excited that Russ and his wife, Shannon, have decided to join us at NKU."
Prior to last season, Rose served as the video coordinator and an interim assistant coach at Central Michigan during the 2012-13 academic year. As the interim assistant coach, he helped with the Chippewa's recruiting and practice efforts and provided in-game support as well. That season, Central Michigan posted a 21-12 overall record and earned a berth to the NCAA tournament.
Rose, who was a four-year letterwinner for Davenport's men's basketball team, earned his bachelor degree in business administration in 2007 and received his Master of Business Administration from Davenport in 2014.
