Biography
PERSONAL: Layton arrives to the Norse after an outstanding high school career at Lafayette Jefferson and Faith Christian, where she surpassed 2,000 career points, setting a new Tippecanoe County record. She earned a multitude of accolades throughout her high school career, including winning Journal & Courier Big Schools Player of the Year in 2025-26, earned multiple Midwest Conference first team and All-NCC honors, as well as multiple IBCA/IHSAA Top 100 Showcase invites.
Maya's mother, Dawyel (Jones) Layton, is a former college basketball player herself, playing at Bradley for three seasons from 1989-92. She led the Braves in steals in her final season and earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors on one occasion.
