Matt Kearns

Matt Kearns was elevated to assistant coach in the spring of 2019 following two seasons as a graduate assistant coach with the Norse. He previously worked with the Xavier volleyball team as a student coach and technical advisor from 2013-17.

Kearns has been instrumental in Northern Kentucky's game preparation. With the assistance of his analytics, the Norse went a combined 61-43 between 2017-20, won the 2019 Horizon League Tournament, competed in the NCAA Tournament and finished in the RPI Top-50 (49) in 2019.

During his time with the Musketeers, Kearns provided scouting reports with DataVolley and DataVideo, coordinated film exchange with opposing programs, and also assisted with operations functions for road travel. The Bellingham, Massachusetts, native also coached at Purcell Marian and Tri-State Elite Volleyball Club. At Purcell Marian, Kearns served as both varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach and was a member of the staff of the year in 2015.

At the club level, Kearns became the head coach of the 17s team for the 2016-17 season after working as a volunteer assistant with the club since 2015, becoming the youngest coach in the club to take the helm of a team.

Kearns received his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Xavier in 2017.
