Norse spikers continue to roll with two wins on Saturday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team continued to roll past opponents Saturday afternoon, sweeping past both Glenville State and Urbana in Regents Hall.

NKU cruised past Glenville State in the opener by scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-12. The Norse capped their unbeaten week (4-0) with a 25-7, 25-20, 25-7 victory against Urbana.

NKU, which has won 14 of its past 15 matches, improved to 15-3 overall. The Norse also picked up road wins against Wheeling Jesuit and Southern Indiana this week.

Kim Nemcek hammered down nine kills and attacked at a .615 clip to lead NKU past Glenville State.

Nemcek, a sophomore middle hitter from Geneva, Ill., added four digs and two blocks as NKU rolled to the sweep. The Norse hit .547 for the match as senior setter Natalie Forbes finished with 28 assists.
Forbes also served up four aces and added six digs.

Kristina Eisenmenger finished with eight kills and hit .500, while Noelle Peterson added six kills and a .455 hitting percentage. Peterson also served up three aces for the Norse, who totaled 10 aces as a team.

In the second match of the afternoon, Forbes directed the offense to a .519 hitting percentage as NKU swept by Urbana. The Highlands High School graduate finished with 37 assists and added seven digs.

Eisenmenger and Kelsey Wesaw combined for 31 kills against Urbana. Eisenmenger slammed down 15 kills and attacked at a .636 clip, while Wesaw tallied a match-leading 16 kills and hit .522.

Nemcek added eight kills and attacked at a .500 clip for the Norse, who hit .727 in the opening set. Peterson continued her solid play by recording six kills and two service aces, while Chelsea Clark served up four aces.

Urbana, which defeated Glenville State in five sets before facing NKU, dropped to 3-8 overall.

The Blue Knights hit just .016 against the Norse.

Eisenmenger, a senior right-side hitter, now has 1,480 career kills. She needs six kills to move past Kristin Koralewski for seventh place in NKU history.

NKU plays host to Missouri-St. Louis this Thursday at 7 p.m. in Regents Hall. Missouri-St. Louis is currently atop the GLVC West Division standings with a 7-0 record.
