Norse (11-5, 3-0 GLVC) look to remain perfect in GLVC play this weekend.
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team plays a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference road matches this weekend, beginning Friday with a contest at Rockhurst.
NKU concludes the road trip Saturday by playing at Drury. The Norse are 12-5 overall, 3-0 in the GLVC. NKU has won four consecutive matches going into this weekend.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST ROCKHURST: On Oct. 9, 2008,
Natalie Forbes dished out 46 assists and recorded 13 digs as NKU coasted past Rockhurst in four sets at Kansas City, Mo. NKU won by scores of 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-22.
Forbes added five kills and attacked at a .364 clip as NKU cruised to the win.
Kelsey Wesaw finished with 17 kills and added four blocks.
Kristina Eisenmenger and
Noelle Peterson each tallied 11 kills.
Kim Nemcek finished with seven kills and 17 digs for the Norse, who hit .280 as a team. Nemcek attacked at a .385 clip for the match.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST DRURY: On Oct. 10, 2008,
Kelsey Wesaw and
Kim Nemcek combined for 31 kills and eight blocks as NKU reached the 20-win mark for the 16th consecutive season with a four-set victory against Drury at Springfield, Mo.
Wesaw finished with 16 kills, three blocks and hit .355 for NKU, which extended its winning streak to 11. Nemcek added 15 kills, 12 digs and five blocks for the Norse.
Kristina Eisenmenger slammed down 14 kills, while teammate
Annie Lucas added seven kills, four blocks and a .538 hitting percentage. NKU setter
Natalie Forbes collected a double-double with 51 assists and 13 digs.
DIG PINK: NKU will hold its Dig Pink promotion Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. when Wisconsin-Parkside visits Regents Hall, followed by a Black Out promotion Oct. 10 when Lewis plays at NKU.
NKU has sold hundreds of Dig Pink t-shirts to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer survivors have been invited to attend the Oct. 9 match. Dig Pink volleyballs will also be raffled to assist in raising funds for breast cancer awareness.
Three-time defending GLVC champion Lewis visits Regents Hall at 3 p.m. Oct. 10 to battle NKU. Fans are encouraged to wear black NKU apparel as the Norse attempt to defeat Lewis for the third straight time dating back to last fall. For more information, call (859) 572-7665.
