Norse coast to sixth straight win, improve to 14-5 overall, 5-0 in the GLVC.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –
Kim Nemcek recorded 17 kills and hit .484 to lead the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team to its sixth consecutive victory, a four-set triumph at Drury on Saturday afternoon.
NKU pulled out the match by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23. The Norse improved 14-5 overall, 5-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury dropped to 12-6 overall, 4-2 in the GLVC.
Noelle Peterson added 16 kills for NKU, while teammate
Sarah Drennen collected 15 kills. The Norse rallied from a 21-18 deficit in the fourth set with a 7-2 run to end the match. Nemcek hammered down two kills during the match-ending run.
Freshman setter
Jenna Schreiver directed the NKU offense to a .300 hitting percentage and finished with 45 assists.
Chelsea Clark recorded 22 digs for the NKU defense.
NKU returns home for three matches next week, beginning with a Tuesday night contest against Bellarmine at 7 p.m. The Norse also play host to Wisconsin-Parkside at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a Saturday showdown against Lewis at 3 p.m.
The NKU/Lewis match will feature the only two unbeaten teams in GLVC play. The winner of that contest could wind up the No. 1 seed for the GLVC Tournament, which begins Nov. 13.
