NKU men resume GLVC play Saturday at 3:15 p.m. when Lewis visits Highland Heights

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team resumes Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday at 3:15 p.m. when Lewis visits The Bank of Kentucky Center.

NKU concludes its five-game homestand Monday at 7:45 p.m. with a GLVC showdown against nationally ranked Quincy.

NKU owns a 7-4 overall record and has won three consecutive games. The Norse are 0-2 in the GLVC. Lewis enters Saturday's game with a 9-2 overall record and five straight wins. The Flyers are 1-1 in the GLVC.

STILL PERFECT IN THE BANK: NKU remained perfect (18-0) all-time in The Bank of Kentucky Center by pulling out a 91-89 overtime win against UC-Clermont on Dec. 23. A year ago, NKU finished 13-0 in The Bank of Kentucky Center. The Norse are 5-0 at home this season.

INSIDE DOMINATOR: NKU's David Palmer scored a career-high 39 points to lead the Norse past UC-Clermont on Dec. 23. Palmer, a 6-foot-9 senior center, was 17-for-27 from the field in that game and also grabbed nine rebounds. The 17 field goals tied an NKU single-game record. For his efforts, Palmer was named GLVC Player of the Week on Monday.

Palmer's 39-point performance tied for the third-highest scoring total in NKU history. Four other NKU players - Derek Fields, David Marshall, Brady Jackson and Richard Derkson – have also scored 39 points in a game.

Palmer is averaging a team-leading 18.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He is shooting 56.5 percent from the field and has posted a team-best 17 blocked shots. Palmer is ranked fifth in the GLVC in scoring, ninth in rebounding and third in blocked shots per game (1.55).

BOOKEND FORWARDS: NKU forwards Chris Knight and Corey Sorrell each scored 18 points against UC-Clermont. Both players also grabbed eight rebounds in that overtime win. Knight ranks seventh in the GLVC in rebounding at 7.0 boards per contest.

DISHING OUT THE ASSISTS: NKU senior guard Scott Bibbins dished out 11 assists in the victory over UC-Clermont. Bibbins leads NKU with 61 assists this season and has just 18 turnovers. He ranks fifth in the GLVC with an average of 5.6 assists per game.

NKU freshman guard Ethan Faulkner has 48 assists and just 18 turnovers. Faulkner is 10th in the GLVC with an average of 4.36 assists per contest.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST LEWIS: On Feb. 28, 2009, Dennis Gagai scored 25 points to lead NKU to a 71-54 win against Lewis in Regents Hall. The Norse held Lewis to just 35.1 percent shooting from the field and coasted to the win.
