The NKU men's basketball team dropped a 57-56 decision to UM-St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS – Beaumont Beasley made a free throw with 36 seconds remaining in the game to snap a 56-all tie, and Missouri-St. Louis held on to post a 57-56 win against Northern Kentucky University on Thursday night.
After Beasley's free throw gave Missouri-St. Louis the lead, NKU took possession and called a timeout with 13 seconds left on the clock. With the clock winding down,
Ethan Faulkner attempted a 15-foot jumper that was off the mark and the buzzer sounded, giving Missouri-St. Louis the victory.
Jeremy Brown scored 16 points to lead Missouri-St. Louis, which improved to 9-5 overall, 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Ryan Lawrence added 12 points for the Tritons, who rallied from a 14-point deficit (20-6) in the first half and pulled out the victory at the end.
NKU (8-6 overall, 1-4 in the GLVC) held a 54-50 lead with 3:14 left in the game after
Tony Rack drained a 3-pointer. Missouri-St. Louis, though, countered with a trey by Brown and another 3-pointer by Adam Kaatman to take a 56-54 advantage at the 1:33 mark.
David Palmer made a pair of free throws with 1:11 remaining to tie the score at 56-all. After the teams traded turnovers, Beasley drew a foul and hit one of two free throws to account for the winning margin.
Chris Knight led NKU with 15 points, and
Corey Sorrell added 14 points. The Norse shot 40.4 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle by a 40-26 margin. Palmer, who entered the game averaging 18.8 points per contest, encountered foul trouble and was held to eight points. Faulkner added 11 points for the Norse.
NKU now holds a 16-7 advantage in the all-time series against Missouri-St. Louis. The Norse, however, have lost their last three games in the Mark Twain Building against the Tritons.
NKU concludes the two-game road trip Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest at Rockhurst.
