ST. LOUIS – Kelly Carter scored 22 points to lead the Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 78-75 win over Northern Kentucky University on Thursday night in the Mark Twain Building.

Hailee Deckard added 12 points for Missouri-St. Louis, which was 23-for-26 from the free-throw line. The Tritons (6-8 overall, 2-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) were also 7-for-10 from 3-point range to avenge last season's 44-point loss at NKU.

Casse Mogan scored 25 points to lead NKU, which dropped to 8-5 overall, 2-3 in the GLVC. The Norse shot just 40.3 percent from the field and fell to 0-5 on the road this season.

Missouri-St. Louis owned a 75-68 lead with 3:20 left in the game after Carter knocked down a short jumper. NKU, however, rallied behind a basket from Kendra Caldwell and a conventional three-point play by Mogan that cut the Triton advantage to 75-73 with 32 seconds remaining.

Missouri-St. Louis then ran 19 seconds off the clock before Deckard was fouled. She made both free throws to extend the Triton lead to 77-73 with 13 seconds left.

Mogan buried a jumper with 8.1 seconds left to make it 77-75. After a timeout, NKU fouled Kristi White, who made one of two free throws to give Missouri-St. Louis a 78-75 edge.

NKU had a last opportunity to send the game into overtime, but Brandi Rayburn's 3-pointer fell short at the buzzer.

Rachel Lantry added 11 points for NKU, and Rayburn scored 10 for the Norse. NKU is now 18-4 all-time against Missouri-St. Louis. The Norse conclude the two-game road trip Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest at Rockhurst.
