NKU's Palmer earns spot on All-GLVC first team after averaging 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds

INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky University men's basketball player David Palmer has been selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference first team, the league office announced Friday.

Palmer, a 6-foot-9 senior center, has dominated the inside much of the season for the Norse and averages 17.3 points per game. Palmer also leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 boards per contest, and he is shooting 54 percent from the field.

Palmer has blocked 48 shots, which ranks third in the GLVC. He has collected seven double-doubles this season and helped NKU post a 15-12 record going into the GLVC Tournament.

Southern Indiana's Jamar Smith earned GLVC Player of the Year accolades, while the Screaming Eagles' Rodney Watson was tabbed GLVC Coach of the Year.

NKU will meet Missouri S&T in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m. (Central time) in Rensselaer, Ind.
