SOMERS, Wis. – A game-changing 17-0 run keyed Wisconsin-Parkside's 50-36 win against Northern Kentucky University in the second round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday.

b
NKU owned a 13-7 lead over the cold-shooting Rangers, who scored just two points during the first 10 minutes of the game. Wisconsin-Parkside, however, closed the half with a 13-0 run to take a 20-13 advantage into the locker room.

Jadee Rooney scored the final six points of the first half, including a basket just before the buzzer on a driving layup. Wisconsin-Parkside started the game 1-for-15 from the field, but the Rangers converted their final six attempts of the first half to gain the lead.

Wisconsin-Parkside then scored the first four points of the second half to build a 24-13 lead. NKU's Casse Mogan stopped the Rangers' 17-0 spurt with a short jumper, but the Norse were unable to overcome the game-changing run by Wisconsin-Parkside.

Brittany Hogen scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Wisconsin-Parkside, which improved to 22-6 and advanced to next week's GLVC Tournament semifinals. Rooney, meanwhile, finished with 15 points for the Rangers.

Brandi Rayburn scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for NKU, which dropped to 20-9. Mogan finished with just four points, ending her streak of games of scoring in double figures at 28. The 36 points were the fewest ever scored by an NKU women's basketball team.

Earlier this season, NKU had pulled out a 62-60 win against Wisconsin-Parkside in Highland Heights, Ky. NKU still holds a 25-7 lead in the all-time series against Wisconsin-Parkside, but the Norse are just 2-6 in their last eight trips to DeSimone Gymnasium.

NKU is currently ninth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll. The top eight teams in the regional poll earn berths in the NCAA Division II Tournament, and the field will be announced next Sunday.

NKU has made four consecutive NCAA Tournament trips, but Sunday's loss probably cost the Norse any chance of receiving an at-large berth.
