NKU dropped a five-set decision to NAIA member Missouri Baptist on Friday.
ST. LOUIS - Casey Chernin recorded 17 kills and attacked at a .455 clip Friday night as Missouri Baptist University stunned Northern Kentucky University, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-6, in a non-conference volleyball match.
Jessica Bowman added nine kills and hit .500 as Missouri Baptist pulled out the five-set victory and improved to 5-10 overall. The Lady Spartans, members of the NAIA, served up 16 aces and limited NKU (7-7) to a .207 hitting percentage.
Missouri Baptist attacked at a .400 clip in the fifth set to win the match. NKU hit just -.125 in the final stanza, with four kills and six errors in 16 attempts.
NKU concludes the road trip Saturday with matches against William Jewell and Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Maryville.
