NKU men use strong defensive effort to post 65-48 win at Lewis on Tuesday night

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Josh Tabb scored 18 points and dished out six assists to lead Northern Kentucky University to a 65-48 win against Lewis on Tuesday night in the Neil Carey Arena.

Malcolm Eleby added 11 points and four assists for NKU, which improved to 9-3 overall, 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse held Lewis (8-7 overall, 1-3 GLVC) to 22.2 percent shooting in the second half to pull away for the win.

Bobby Shannon added nine points for NKU, which is now 37-16 all-time against Lewis. The Norse also improved to 13-12 all-time in the Neil Carey Arena.

Lewis jumped out to a 16-6 lead five minutes into the game, but NKU stormed back with a 19-8 run to take a 25-24 lead on Eleby's basket with 4:20 remaining in the first half.

With the score tied at 39-all in the second half, NKU used a 9-0 spurt to gain a 48-39 edge and controlled play the rest of the way. Shannon scored a pair of baskets to ignite the Norse run.

David Bryant led Lewis with 13 points. The Flyers made five 3-pointers in the first half but were limited to just one trey after intermission.

NKU has now beaten Lewis four straight times and won 11 of the past 12 meetings with the Flyers.

NKU plays host to Rockhurst at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
