HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The up-tempo offense of Northern Kentucky University made quick work of visiting Drury on Saturday in Regents Hall.
NKU, which entered the week No. 6 nationally in team hitting percentage at .320, smashed the ball at a .317 clip en route to a 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 win. The 18th-ranked Norse hit .400 in both the second and third sets to wrap up the sweep.
Noelle Peterson finished with 14 kills and attacked at a .444 clip to lead NKU, which improved to 12-2 overall, 6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse hit just .167 in the opening set, but Peterson sparked NKU to a 25-23 win with six kills in nine attempts.
Kim Nemcek added 12 kills and hit .391, while teammate
Shelby Buschur attacked at a .583 clip with eight kills. Buschur also added three blocks.
Gennie Galfano collected seven kills and hit .417 for NKU, which is now 7-1 all-time against Drury.
Jenna Schreiver dished out 38 assists and added three blocks.
The NKU defense limited Drury (9-6 overall, 4-4 GLVC) to a .196 hitting percentage. Freshman Sara Borneman finished with 17 kills and attacked at a .333 clip to lead Drury, which is 0-4 all-time in Regents Hall.
Kylee Tarantino led the Norse back row with 16 digs, while
Anna Prickel collected eight digs.
NKU plays host to Missouri S&T at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Lady Miners are unbeaten (8-0) in GLVC play after knocking off Bellarmine on Saturday.
