HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team plays 19th-ranked Northeastern (Okla.) State in the Oahu Classic at 10 p.m. (Eastern time) Thursday night in Honolulu.

This is the first time NKU's women's basketball program has ever visited Hawaii. A total of 10 teams will participate in the Oahu Classic. NKU wraps up play Friday at midnight (Eastern time) with a game against BYU-Hawaii.

NKU is 2-0 after posting a 75-19 win over Salem International last Saturday. Northeastern State also owns a 2-0 record going into Thursday's game.

A year ago, Northeastern State posted a 25-5 record and earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Region. The RiverHawks were upset by Central Oklahoma in the regional semifinals.

DEFENSE RULES: The 19 points allowed against Salem International equaled the lowest total in Norse history, tying a record that had previously been set on Feb. 20, 1992, when NKU posted a 110-19 win over Kentucky State.

BALANCED SCORING: NKU features eight players who average at least 5.0 points per game. Senior guard Casse Mogan leads the team in scoring at 14.0 points per contest, followed by junior guard Jaimie Hamlet at 11.0 ppg. Hamlet is also 6-for-11 from 3-point range this season.

ALL-AROUND SKILLS: NKU senior forward Sadie Bowling leads the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and assists (4.0 apg) after two games. Bowling also averages 5.0 points and is perfect (4-for-4) from the free-throw line.

CAREER GAMES: NKU freshmen Kaitlyn Gerrety (11 points) and Melody Doss (10 points) each scored in double figures against Salem International.

UP NEXT: NKU begins Great Lakes Valley Conference play Dec. 1 with a road game at Saint Joseph's. The Norse finish the road trip Dec. 3 with a GLVC East Division showdown at Indianapolis.
