HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –
Jon Van Hoose scored a career-high 22 points to lead unbeaten Northern Kentucky University to a 98-53 win over Salem International on Sunday.
Van Hoose knocked down six 3-pointers and added three assists as NKU improved to 9-0. The Norse, ranked No. 21 in the NCAA Division II national poll, jumped out to a 16-2 lead and coasted past the visiting Tigers (1-11).
NKU is approaching the best start (13-0) in the program's history, which was set during the 2000-01 season. The current 9-0 start is the best since the 2002-03 season, when the Norse began 10-0.
NKU shot 59.1 percent from the field on Sunday and held Salem International to 33.9 percent accuracy. Van Hoose buried five treys in the first half and netted 17 points as the Norse rolled to a 47-17 advantage at the break.
Tony Rack scored all 11 of his points in the first half, including a trio of 3-pointers. NKU limited the Tigers to just 21.4 percent shooting before halftime.
DeAndre Nealy finished with 15 points (6-for-6 shooting from the field), seven rebounds and six blocked shots, while teammate
Alex McGlothin scored a career-high 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Chad Jackson added nine points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Juanito Moises scored 11 points to lead Salem International. Sunday marked the first game between the two schools in men's basketball.
NKU returns to action Dec. 30 with a home game against Shepherd (W.Va.) at 1 p.m.
